Not my bow tie

Posted in :  Community & Conversation

Everyone knows that this economy stinks, but I think I am holding in my hands proof that it is still in the toilet.

Yes, it is still larger than a glazed doughnut and tastes the same, but this David is seriously like 30% smaller than the Goliath bow tie I am used to getting. Is it a mere fluke, was there a rookie in the bakery this morning? Or is this a new mandate by D&D to make more money. Wouldn’t surprise me. My 40 pound bag of dog food is now 37.5 pounds and the price is like [More...]

Rule Breakers Wanted

Posted in :  Community & Conversation

I’m a good girl. I’ve always followed the rules like a good girl. That’s what good girls do.

This last year I made some big decisions that are out of character for a good girl. These decisions completely shifted my universe. I left two start-up businesses, one a marketing consulting business and the other a coworking space. I left my marriage. I left my home. I left my dog.

To those around me, it looked as if I left my world. In one way I did and there are days that I still feel like a newborn. But, I also feel as [More...]

bigPRX

This is possibly, one of the BEST spams I have ever, ever received. Scratch that, it may be one of the worst spams I’ve ever received. Guess it depends on your point of view.

Does this type of ad really work? Have any of you men out there actually clicked on one of these ads? Maybe I’m not their target market, though last I checked I had the appropriate equipment their product is supposed to make “Bigger, Harder, and Longer”. (Sounds like the opening sequence to the Million Dollar Man, for those old enough to remember. “We can rebuild him…”)

My favorite [More...]

Posted in :  Community & Conversation

For a variety of reasons, I decided that I should get a new Mac laptop this afternoon. The most compelling of which is that my wife and I are moving in a couple of days, and I would rather not be without a computer for a week. Don’t get me wrong, the iPhone does a LOT, and I could live without a computer if I really needed to. At the heart of it, I’m a gadget guy and a new laptop is a gadget of the finest order.

After several hours of packing and throwing a little more stuff in the [More...]

Beam Me Up: Be In Two Places At Once With Cisco’s TelePresence

New developments in teleconferencing technology could allow us to travel virtually across the globe, walking out of one collaborative space in the US and into another in China.

Using high definition 1080p video and a special audio setup, Cisco created a system that allows you to interact with a person, full scale, as if you were standing there talking to them face to face. With the ability to observe body language and full facial expression, the advantages of this kind of interaction are un-deniable.

I feel like true teleconferencing has not been seriously considered by a lot of companies based on the [More...]

Don’t Like IE6, Save Corporate America

Posted in :  Community & Conversation

I am so happy this issue is getting outside the realm of web developers. Woah, People Really Don’t Like IE6.  As a developer I too can not stand spending ANY extra time having to accommodate IE6. I understand that I need to achieve this task because many of our customers clients and target audiences are still using IE6. I understand that 15% of web browsers, as of June are still dragging their feet with IE6.

My question is, who are these people, and should they really be afforded the internet? [More...]
