I Can Now Identify With A Penguin Parent

It was always fascinating to me to watch the nature channel. When I was a kid, the only option was “Wild World of Animals” on PBS. I remember being clearly struck by a segment on penguins and how the parents of a baby could identify their call among thousands of squawking babies without a problem. There was something just slightly unique among their own baby’s call, and that was all they needed. How do they do that(?), I wondered.

How many networking events have you attended, with favorable anticipation in hand, only to leave with a headache from perpetual eye rolling?

I have attended every type of event, from BNI to Chamber and stale chicken dinner conferences to small industry-focused happy hours. Some of them have been fantastic but most of them, I find, fall flat. The reasons vary but I find that there is one common theme among most of them: the people.
